Q. Am I committing myself to anything if I ask you to do a survey?
A. As part of our service, advice & surveys are totally free & without obligation.

Q. Are you a FENSA registered company?
A. Yes we are FENSA registered. Brighton and Hove City Council recommend that you should use only FENSA registered window companies.

Q. How much to change a rope? Etc.
A. Rope changes start from £25 Minimum of two ropes. Prices for other services vary on the different types of windows (Size condition etc). A full written quotation will be given free of charge within seven days after a detailed survey.

Q. The Adelaide Draft Proofing System, is it ugly, will it be noticeable? I like the character of my sash windows. I don’t want any alterations on my listed property. (Windows)
A. Our Draft Proofing System is hidden in the working sides of your window, only noticeable when the window is taken apart. The seals are installed into the staff bead and the parting bead. Our beads are made out of wood and look exactly the same as the ones already in your window. They can be decorated as the originals. Our competitors in London use an inferior PVC bead which is unacceptable in traditional sash windows.

Q. My windows have not been serviced for a long time, all the ropes are snapped and they do not open. Is this going to cost more?
A. As a matter of course we replace all ropes and remove the windows to service them. Whether they are painted shut or not, the cost will depend only on the size and condition of the window.

Q. Will there be a lot of mess & how long will the Adelaide draft proofing take to install?
A. On average one carpenter can install the draft proofing system into 1-2 windows a day. (1 window consists of 2 sashes) We are very tidy, always use dust sheets and come complete with a vacuum cleaner.

Q. Can I have my existing sash windows double glazed?
A. The answer is yes and no. Only if you have new sashes made keeping your original frames pulleys etc. Single glazed sashes are not designed to take the extra weight and size of the double glazed unit.

Q. Are double glazed sash windows chunky and ugly?
A. Our double glazed sash windows are made to blend in with original sash windows, hence the fact we fit them in listed properties.

Q. How much do double glazed sash windows cost? How long does it take to install a new sash window?
A. New double glazed sash window starts at £700 each, depending on the size and location. They take around eight weeks to make and a day or two to install (depending on the job).

Q. I am at work all day and can’t really take time off. Do you work weekends?
A. If necessary this can be arranged but normally we can do the work in your absence. As we work in private houses all of the time, our employees have to be very trust worthy. All Adelaide Sash Window employees have undergone background checks.

Q. Do you do simple maintenance i.e. just replace a broken rope?
A. No job is too big or too small. We can help with all types of sash window and other timber window and door issues.

Q. How do I know that the Adelaide draft proof system works and that you have completed work successfully? Do you have references?
